Hoggs political action group, Leaders We Deserve, will target longserving House Democrats who, according to Hogg, have become complacent and out of touch with the urgency of current political challenges. He has stressed that his effort is not about age but rather about the effectiveness of Democratic leaders in responding to the rapidly changing political landscape, especially in the face of the ongoing challenges posed by the Trump administration. We need people who are ready to fight for the future, Hogg said, framing his initiative as an urgent call for a more energized, proactive Democratic Party.
The Split in the Democratic Party

Traditionally, the DNC has maintained a neutral stance in primary elections, focusing its resources on defeating Republicans rather than challenging its own incumbents. Yet, some Democrats see Hoggs challenge as a necessary shakeup. Sometimes, our message does not connect because people do not feel connected with our messengers, said Randi Weingarten, president of the American Federation of Teachers. Weingarten, among others, supports Hoggs vision of rejuvenating the party with younger, more dynamic candidates who can better resonate with the base. The desire for new leadership is growing, particularly among voters frustrated with older, establishment figures who have dominated the party for decades.
