German Tourists Detained and Deported After Border Disputes with U.S. Authorities

Two German tourists, Jessica Brösche and Lucas Sielaff, faced prolonged detentions and eventual deportation after attempting to enter the U.S. in January and February 2025. Brösche, a tattoo artist, was detained for over six weeks at Otay Mesa Detention Center after officials suspected she planned to work illegally. Sielaff, who sought to visit his partner in Las Vegas, was detained after a misunderstanding about his residence. Both endured harsh conditions, with Brösche spending days in solitary confinement .
